Moto Borgotaro is dedicated to riding, restoring, servicing & buildng custom vintage European motorcycles. Owner Peter Boggia is a native New Yorker with more than a dozen years of service experience. In 1998, he moved to New Orleans and began an apprenticeship under one of the most accomplished mechanics in the industry, where he developed an expertise in vintage European motorcycle repair and restoration. When fate intervened in the form of Hurricane Katrina, Boggia was forced back to his family roots in New York. By that time his affinity for vintage Italian motorcycles bordered on obsession, and as he rebuilt a Moto Guzzi Lemans salvaged from Katrina he started finding private clients in need of service work.

Boggia opened Moto Borgotaro in 2008, and with zero advertising the shop has steadily grown by word-of-mouth alone, fueled by a community looking for quality, personalized service. The name, Borgotaro—which comes from the village in Italy Boggia traces his family tree to—is a nod to the Old World sense of value and tradition the shop aspires to. This short film by Roberto Serrini about Peter Boggia is a far cry from the more self-oriented shorts you’ve probably seen about custom bike builders. In this case, Peter was reticent to do the film at all and if you watch till the end you’ll see him explain that he thinks that motorcycles are essentially handbags for men, and that people who sit around talking about bikes on camera are douchebags.
