Maria Riding Company » Italian Sniper
If you haven’t heard about Portuguese builder Maria Riding Company yet, this custom Ducati 750SS, dubbed ‘Italian Sniper’, ought to get you hooked. The man behind the build, Luis Correia is keen on stripping away superfluous parts, keeping just the essentials in order to make the bike both smaller, more aggressive and, in this case, very cafe racer-ish.
The ’94 750SS was stripped down to the frame, with the latter modded and shortened at the rear. A restored and painted motor, sourced from a Ducati SS900, propels the bike, whilst the transmission protections were taken off and the clutch cover was sliced in half to show the innards. The fuel tank is also shortened, with the overall lines changed and simplified to be in harmony with the frame design. The suspension gets an upgrade as well, along with polished engine covers, foot pegs and suspension for that retro look. Completing the changes are Firetrap exhausts, all-terrain Avon rubber and brooks leather tape for the grips. And yes, you can fit in a passenger by dismounting the rear fiberglass monocoque.
