The incredibly cool Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a celebration of the art of being dapper and the style of classic custom motorcycles. Founded in 2012, DGR was inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit; it was decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles. That first ride brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities. The success of the event encouraged the organizers to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause. And the rest, as they say, is stylishly-attired history. The goal is to raise money for helping find a cure for prostate cancer. We were privileged to have the DUbai gentlemen and genteel lady folk end their ride at Bikers Cafe for the second time in two years. Sporting classy suits and and beards, the riders were treated to a sumptuous Gentlemen’s meal prepared specially for the event. The group of 50 odd riders took up the parking space all round the cafe, socializing and discussing motorcycles. Even fellow motorists on the Beach Road passed by to take in the gorgeous metal on display, which included a few beautiful cafe racers and custom motorcycles, all reflecting the cafe’s bright lights off their gleaming chrome bodies. It was a great event that we were really proud to be part of, and hope to be involved next year as well.
