What a day it was! It is not every day that you get someone like Ken Block - professional rally driver and Gymkhana legend - visiting Bikers Café. The Hoonigan had come down to UAE for the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show, where he was interacting with fans at the Ford stand, alongside Lebanese rally driver Abdo Feghali. Our crew and the team from Monster Energy were prepping the venue from as early as 2:30PM, the latter being very specific as to how and where they wanted things to be. Monster Energy tents were set up, along with can coolers and the table were Ken Block would be signing autographs. One of the most famous DJs and music personalities in the region (and accomplished drifter!), DJ Dany Neville also got down early to Bikers Café, setting up equipment and preparing for the exciting evening ahead. Even though the event was scheduled to start by 6PM, guests started arriving at least two hours before to get their preferred tables and wait for the star. We were expecting some special cars for the evening, but nothing really prepared us and the crowds for Ken Block’s ‘Hoonicorn’, the heavily modified 1965 Ford Mustang that was the star of Gymkhana Seven. Frankly, never have we seen such excitement since the Bat Mobile was down at Bikers Café for a previous edition of Jumeirah Cruisin’. Guests waited, enjoying our signature BBQ dishes in the meantime, and soon enough, Ken Block arrived, and was greeted by Mr. Khalid Bin Hader, CEO of Bikers Café. Warm and friendly, the internationally recognised celebrity started signing autographs as soon as he arrived, and was kept busy with tons of fans and enthusiasts queuing up to meet and get photographed with him. With everyone thanking us and Mr. Block for the opportunity, we’d like to express our gratitude to him for visiting us and making a dream come true for all those who attended.
